Safeguarding & trust

Safe use of AI, always.

Safe use isn't a box we tick — it's how we design every session, template, and recommendation for your school.

School-safe by design.

Every recommendation we make is scoped to what's appropriate for a UK primary school — tested against real-world safeguarding expectations.

No pupil personal data

We never use any pupil personal data in AI tools — full stop. All our templates and workflows are designed around this constraint from the outset.

Human review always

AI assists — people decide. Every AI output is reviewed by a member of staff before it's used. We build this expectation into every session and every piece of guidance we provide.

Clear do/don't rules

We give your staff a clear, jargon-free set of rules — what AI can be used for, what it shouldn't be used for, and how to check outputs are appropriate before sharing.

No new platforms

Everything works within Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Your data stays in the systems your school already controls. There's nothing new to manage, no third-party logins, no extra risk surface.

Designed for primary schools

Our safe-use approach was built from scratch for the UK primary context — not adapted from a corporate AI policy.

What staff can and can't use AI for.

We share clear, simple rules with every school we work with — adapted for your context.

✓ You can use AI for…

  • Drafting parent letters and newsletters
  • Planning ideas and lesson outlines
  • Summarising policies or documents
  • Drafting governor reports and presentations
  • Creating meeting agendas and minutes templates
  • Drafting generic feedback comments for review

✗ Do not use AI for…

  • Anything involving pupil names or personal data
  • SEND assessments or support plan content
  • Safeguarding case notes or incident reports
  • HR or disciplinary documentation
  • Publishing any output without human review first
  • Any task that requires professional judgement alone

Everything we provide must be reviewed by your school.

AskColin provides training, mentorship, guidance, templates and draft documents as a support service. Everything we produce — including AI-generated content, compliance documents, toolkits and recommendations — is a starting point, not a finished product.

Before any document, communication, policy or piece of content is used, sent to parents, shared with governors or published, it must be:

Read and checked by a member of staff for accuracy, tone and appropriateness
Personalised to reflect your school's specific context, voice and circumstances
Approved by the appropriate person — headteacher, DSL, SBM or governors depending on the document
Owned by the school — professional and legal responsibility always remains with the headteacher and governing body

AskColin's role is to support, advise and train — not to make decisions for your school. We bring the knowledge, the tools and the time-saving. Your school brings the professional judgement, the context, and the accountability. That combination is what makes it work.
