What is Monsha?

Monsha is an AI platform for teachers that helps with curriculum planning, resource creation and differentiation. It can outline a full course, break it into units and lessons, and generate worksheets, quizzes, presentations and differentiated materials. One of its more useful features is that you can upload your own materials — files, web pages or videos — and have Monsha turn them into lessons and resources.

It exports to Google Docs and Slides, Word, PowerPoint and PDF, and connects with several learning platforms. It was founded by two entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and has taken part in a US start-up accelerator.

Where to be careful

• US defaults. Standards and terminology lean American. Specify England's national curriculum, UK year groups and UK English.

• No pupil data. Monsha says it does not need identifiable pupil data. Keep it that way.

Privacy and approval

Monsha states it is designed to comply with privacy laws including GDPR. As with any tool, your school should check the privacy policy, where data is processed, and whether a data processing agreement is available before approving it. Add it to your AI policy's approved list, and if staff will upload school documents, cover that in your data protection impact assessment.
